DeFuse project trials to start in May 2009
Demining by Fusion of Techniques (DeFuse) is a pilot project with the aim to obtain scientific knowledge about the advantages of deploying a combined demining approach using existing mine detection and clearance equipment/procedures. The project was initiated by the Nordic Demining Research Forum (NDRF), but is now driven by project participants from different research organisations.

DeFuse will collect data sets to study the combined approach of mine detection dogs, detectors and mechanical demining equipment (flail). The test area, which covers 28 000 square meters and contains more than 500 test objects, was established in 2008. The data collection phase will start at the end of May 2009.
